The bohemian Tunic - Man Choli

I have been busy traveling to Tantalizing Thailand and touring Bangkok, Pattaya and Krabi and have been very lazy off late - writing and updating my blog has been the last thing on my mind. Sorry, holidays are most important aspect of my life :)

There will be loads of juicy fashion fodder in the coming weeks as my sole purpose (and the soul purpose as well) is to write about the most shoppable and fashionable places on planet Earth - a shopping heaven for men - Bangkok, being one of them.

But before I start my fashion columbus series (apparently covering fashion capitals of the east and the west), I would like to shower my appreciation on the Indian Tunic - Man Choli as I call it owing to the cuts, contours and likeness :).

I call it bohemian because the tunic of sorts defies the conventional rules of masculinity and yet is so super masculine that it is a popular Indian traditional wear still worn in it's rustic avatar by Indian men (traditionally worn with a "dhoti" - a lower garment that can be wrapped around as a sarong - another Indian garment to have inspired fashion around the world!

The tunic worn by men is like a jacket or an upper garment usually worn as it is (that is nothing is worn inside except probably a vest) criss-crossed with cords like a corset and frock-ing it's way upto the waist :-

This is a popular garment worn mostly by Rajasthani(India) men and has a strong resemblance to the traditionally styled Chinese jackets for men :-

The man choli can serve several purposes - can be worn as a dinner jacket and even casually over your favorite pair of jeans. These can be worn comfortably in Summers and the coming summer of 2012 - Man Cholis aka Tunics will have a special unique appeal and so a must-have in any fashionable man's wardrobe. Make sure you invest in a cotton tunic like the one below -

  1. This is one of the best posts that I’ve ever seen; you may include some more ideas in the same theme about Casual Jackets for Men. I’m still waiting for some interesting thoughts from your side in your next post.
